Occupational therapy student supervisors for 6 and 10 week blocks (June/July and October/November respectively:
- Residential Aged Care (Carlton) 3 days a week
- Primary School (Ringwood) 2 days a week
These roles require enthusiastic clinicians to provide supervision to a group of students (10 students in a residential aged care facility; 7 students in a primary school).
Both facilities provide OT placements for students for 2 placement blocks - eight weeks in June/July and four weeks in October/November. The student supervisor role will include two additional weeks for pre-placement planning and report preparation attached to each block.
Role:
In a partnership with agency staff the Swinburne supervisor will:
- liaise with university staff
- negotiate with the agency to plan the student program
- provide direct OT supervision during the placement.
- consult with agency staff to prepare student reports
- complete the student evaluations at midway and completion.
This position will suit someone with an interest in student supervision and occupational therapy education.
Essential requirements:
- Occupational therapy qualification and current registration with AHPRA
- Experience in student supervision
- Experience in working with older adults (for the first role)
- Experience in working with children and/or in schools (for the second role)
- Experience running group programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound organizational and time management skills
