Department of Health Webinar Cancelled: New Arrangements for Aged Care Assessments
The webinar, rescheduled for 11 March, at which new arrangements for aged care assessments were to be outlined, has now been cancelled by the Department of Health.
As indicated in the Department’s announcement, this is because “The Government will take advice from state and territory governments and the Royal Commission on Aged Care Quality and Safety on any future changes to the delivery of aged care assessment services.”
Given the concerns raised by many OTA members about the proposed reforms, OTA believes this is a positive development.
We have always questioned the point of implementing major changes to the aged care system before the Royal Commissioners have had the opportunity to present their final report—and its recommendations—to the Australian Government.
OTA maintains this position.
