NDIS Mandatory Assessments Temporarily Shelved
The newspaper reports Linda Reynolds has announced today that the federal government will temporarily shelve plans regarding mandatory assessments for those on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS.) This announcement has come in light of increasing feedback against the proposed update, with the government seeking to reign in the costs associated with the NDIS, and funding participants are able to access.
Linda Reynolds told media that “there has been significant feedback already. And as a new minister, I’ll be consulting around the country with as many stakeholders as I can.” This news has come as a small but significant step in the continued lobbying efforts by Occupational Therapy Australia, who has been requested to attend the Joint Standards committee at its upcoming public hearing, providing another opportunity to advocate for the profession and its clients.
Occupational Therapy Australia would like to thank the members of the NDIS Taskforce, Reference group and members for the ongoing support and insight on the issue.
