This OTA webinar will provide an overview of Tina Champagne’s Sensory Modulation Program Component 3: Sensory-based Modalities. This webinar will overview a variety of sensory-based modalities (i.e., weighted modalities, beanbag tapping, aromatherapy). Tina Champagne will guide you through interactive use of a host of sensory-based modalities, whilst summarising the underlying neuroscience and links to attachment and trauma informed care. Practical resources and tools will be provided suitable for use with children, adults older adults.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, you will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between sensory-based modalities and sensorimotor activities
  2. Explain the neuroscience underpinning the therapeutic application of sensory-based modalities reviewed, and how they support attachment and trauma-informed care, to enable occupational participation.
  3. Introduce and modify sensory-based modalities for application with children, adults, and older adults across different practice settings (e.g., schools, workplaces, aged care).
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of sensory-based modalities and monitor and adjust interventions for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
