WORKSHOP SUMMARY

This one-day workshop for Occupational Therapists will focus on a practical understanding of the National Construction Code and its application to housing. It will explore the concepts of reasonable and necessary and also documentation for complex and challenging modifications.

This workshop will cover:

  • Legislative requirements for design- the principles
  • Reasonable and necessary design requirements
  • Conceptual design and diagrammatical representation
  • Documentation principles for advanced and complex design

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the legislative requirements for modifications.
  • Understand the reasonable and necessary requirements for complex modifications.
  • Demonstrate advanced documentation in environmental modification design.
  • Demonstrate advanced problem solving and conceptual design presentation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Occupational therapists with experience in complex modifications. You need to have completd a Basics course or have experience of all the basiscs as this course assumes prior knowledge

Mercure Sydney is located in the heart of Sydney CBD and is a 2 minute walk away from Central Station and 1 block away from Light Rail.

CPD HOURS

Total CPD claimable workshop hours: 7.5

Please allow 48 hours for your CPD Certificate to be loaded in your CPD Tracker after course completion

All registrants will be provided with access to an online account via an email sent out upon registration.

ACCESS

Participants will be able to access the course materials online in their OTA account for the event and for a further 12 weeks after the event.

WORKSHOP MATERIALS

Please note: All participants must bring scaled ruler, pencils, rubbers and retractable tape measure. 

If required, workshop online materials are provided to you electronically via our online learning platform. Approximatly one week prior to the commencement of the workshop we will load the course materials into the system.

To access your online learning account:

  • Go to the OTA Website home page.
  • Click on the Member Login button - even if you are not a Member, all registrants can use this button to login to the online learning account. 
  • Username: the email address you registered for the course. 
  • Password:To set up a password click on the password re-set button and an email will be sent to you to create your password. You then can enter your password and login.
  • Navigate to My Dashboard/My Courses and locate the course.
  • Click on the login link to access the course materials.
  • If you can not login to your account or do not receive any correspondance within at least a week of the course start date please contact us at cpd@otaus.com.au

To ensure you receive all correspondence we recommend registering for this workshop with a personal email address as business email firewalls can block OTA group or automatic emails. Also an account with your workshop materials will be created using your registered email address and it is preferrable that you have individual access to this account.. Also ensure you add cpd@otaus.com.au to your list of accepted email addresses. This will prevent correspondance being lost in your Junk box.

Sandi Lightfoot-Collins

Presenter

Sandi is a practicing OT with diverse clinical skills spanning in excess of 34 years across diverse fields. The last 25 years have focussed on environmental modifications and there impact on users. She has presented nationally on home modifications, across various funding bodies and complexity. Presentations on environmental modifications has occurred within both locally and internationally. These skills have seen her work with local councils on access and modifications, as well as working as a planner for redevelopments of new build/retro fit of a hospital. She teaches into the undergraduate and masters course within the OT faculty at Sydney University and maintains a private consultancy.
