Presented By

Grace Griffiths
Presenter
Grace is a hand therapist based in Wellington, New Zealand. She works at Hutt Valley Hospital, which is where the regional Burns and Plastics Unit is located. Previously, she has worked in private practice providing vocational rehabilitation, pain management services, and hand therapy. Grace recently completed a mixed methods study through the University of Otago, supervised by Dr Jennifer Dunn, Dr Bronwyn Lennox Thompson, and Associate Professor Deborah Snell. This study explored patient experiences of diagnosis and treatment for upper limb Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in New Zealand. Its purpose was to provide recommendations for upper limb CRPS healthcare pathways informed by lived experiences.
Rosemary 'Rosie' Gospel
Presenter
Rosie set up “Compassionate Hands for CRPS”, an online clinical coaching business for people with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). An OT and Accredited Hand Therapist by background, she has also studied embodiment coaching to learn methods to help these patients re-embody the affected body part/s. Although she has narrowed her focus to this patient group - within this area, she is interested in anything and everything that could be helpful for reversing these presentations, as well as early intervention and prevention. She will be discussing the research behind the ‘Somatosensory Pain Rehabilitation Method’ for tactile allodynia and how OTs might start incorporating these assessment and treatment methods.

Dr Colleen Johnston-Devin
Presenter
Dr Colleen Johnston-Devin is a Senior Lecturer in nursing at CQUniversity Australia. After developing CRPS and finding it difficult to source information about living with the condition, Colleen completed a PhD with a thesis titled “The lived experience of CRPS”. Colleen now has a special interest in the self-management of complex regional pain syndrome and the pain education of health professionals. Colleens’ career goal is to improve the chronic pain experience for people by a) enabling people with chronic pain to self-manage and, b) to positively impact pain education received by health professional students.
