WA Award Winners Announced

The Occupational Therapy Australia WA Awards recognise and acknowledge the contribution and dedication of outstanding occupational therapists working within Western Australia and provides an opportunity to showcase the excellence and innovative work being undertaken by our members.

Two awards were presented and announced at the WA Division Annual Divisional Meeting in OT Week.

The 2019 Enabling Excellence Award was presented to Jacqui Hunt.

Jacqui has over 20 years experience of clinical practice in paediatric occupational therapy. She has developed and lead a paediatric occupational therapy clinic which has provided over 200 students with a safe, supported environment to develop their clinical competence and their professional identity. The clinic has provided essential services to over 200 children in the Northern corridor who would otherwise not have access to the necessary interventions.

The 2019 Innovators in Practice Award was presented to Ian Cheok.

Ian has been advocating for OTs in the Pain and Technology Sectors for the last several years and has worked tirelessly to bring Virtual Reality Technology to WA. He is currently working with IT developers in California to create software specific to assisting injured people with chronic pain.
