Occupational Therapy Australia is proud to announce Professor Mandy Stanley as the recipient of the prestigious Sylvia Docker Lectureship for 2025.
Professor Stanley is an Honorary Professor at Edith Cowan University, holds an adjunct position at the University of South Australia, is a Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Australia Research Academy, and is widely recognised for her expertise in qualitative research methodologies, occupational science, and OT education. Having helped shape the Journal of Occupational Science for nearly 30 years, she has published over 120 journal articles and book chapters, attracted more than $7 million in research funding, mentored many emerging OT students, and collaborated with researchers around the world.
Since 1964, the Sylvia Docker Lectureship has recognised occupational therapists who have made a lasting impact on the profession. This prestigious honour celebrates those who inspire and advance OT through clinical practice, research, and education. Named in honour of Miss Sylvia Docker – who founded Australia’s first occupational therapy training school in Sydney in 1941 – the lectureship also commemorates the foundation of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists (AAOT) in 1945 and is presented biennially at Occupational Therapy Australia’s National Conferences.
Professor Stanley will present the Sylvia Docker Lecture, “Connection and Collaboration Through Occupation,” at the OTA 31st National Conference & Exhibition in Adelaide as a keynote speaker. This inspiring session will highlight the power of collaboration in advancing OT practice and research.
Join us in celebrating Professor Mandy Stanley and don’t miss a highlight of the conference!
