Membership Terms and Conditions
OTA membership applicants must agree to the following terms and conditions of membership:
- Agree that eligibility criteria have been met for the applicable membership category
- Agree to abide by the OTA Constitution and Code of Ethics
- Agree to allow OTA to share member information to selected third parties and government agencies for the purpose of confirming membership status for access to benefits and features
- Agree to abide by the terms and conditions set by third parties who provide benefits and features as part of OTA membership
- Agree to provide evidence to substantiate membership category selected when requested by OTA
- Accept that membership is for a full membership cycle (which is 12 months, unless otherwise stated) regardless of payment method, such as via instalments (scheduled payments)
- Agree to pay for the full membership cycle and agree to reimburse OTA any outstanding dues if membership is cancelled mid-cycle
- Accept that no refunds are offered for cancellation of membership during the membership cycle
- Membership is held by the individual, and logins or member benefits can not be shared
- Membership is not transferable
- It is the responsibility of the member to advise OTA of any cancellation or suspension of registration with AHPRA within 10 workings days
- Any occupational therapist with cancelled or suspended registration with AHPRA is not eligible for membership with OTA until registration is reinstated by AHPRA
- Where a member’s registration is suspended with AHPRA, OTA will de-activate membership until the final outcome has been decided by AHPRA
- During the suspension period, the suspended member has no access to membership entitlements
- Where membership with OTA is cancelled due to de-registration with AHPRA, no refund or partial refund of membership fees will be given
- Where membership with OTA is suspended due to registration suspension with AHPRA, no refunds or partial refunds will be given for the suspension period
- OTA has the right to deny membership to the Affiliate category if it deems the eligibility criteria is not met or insufficient evidence is provided to meet the category
Membership Eligibility Criteria and additional terms:
General Member – Part Time Worker
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
- Current and full registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
- Working as an occupational therapist and/or in a role using occupational therapy skills
- Employed or self-employed up to and including 20 hours per week (on average)
New Graduate Member
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
- Current and full registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
- A new graduate membership is available within 12 months of course completion (bachelor or masters entry level) and may be held for a maximum of 2 years from course completion date
Additional terms and conditions:
- A member cannot hold New Graduate membership for greater than 2 cycles of membership
- Graduation date must be supplied when taking out New Graduate membership
Affiliate Member
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
- May or may not have current registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
- Has a tertiary qualification in occupational therapy and is:
- o Not practicing/working as an occupational therapist
- o Not working in healthcare or work related to health
- o Not recognised as an occupational therapist in their place of employment
- Occupational therapists who are on parental leave, retired, overseas, not working as an occupational therapist or choosing not to work in any capacity or actively seeking work
- Occupational therapist not living or working in Australia who is a graduate of an occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT
- New graduates do not qualify for Affiliate membership
Additional terms and conditions:
- OTA has the right to deny membership to this category if it deems the eligibility criteria is not met or insufficient evidence is provided to meet the category
Student Member
Eligibility Criteria:
- Studying an undergraduate or masters entry level occupational therapy education program recognised by AHPRA and WFOT and not yet graduated
- Registered as a student with AHPRA
- Not a post graduate student of an occupational therapy program
Additional terms and conditions:
- Student members are not eligible to access MentorLink or the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme Endorsement (BAMHS)
- Student members are not eligible to vote at Annual Division Meetings s and Annual General Meetings
- Student membership expires at course completion
OTA has the right to deny student membership if it deems the eligibility criteria is not met or insufficient evidence is provided to meet the category.

CPD Terms & Conditions
If the association cancels a CPD Event, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded.
If the association defers a CPD Event and the registrant cannot attend on the revised date/s, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded.
The association bears no responsibility for any other costs incurred.
The views expressed in presentations and reproduced in these materials are not necessarily the views of, or endorsed by, Occupational Therapy Australia Limited ("the Association").
The Association makes no warranty or representation in relation to the content, currency or accuracy of any of the materials comprised in the presentation.

By registering for a CPD event you are agreeing to OTA (or where explicitly stated on the registration page the professional development provider) emailing you with regard to the logistics and content for the event. All workshop materials are provided via an external learning platform and all workshop attendees will have a personal account made for them where the workshop materials will be saved. Details to access this account will be emailed to each individual.
Purchasing Tickets
All attendees to CPD events must have paid the relevant ticket price for their membership status.
If full members purchase a ticket on behalf of a non-member, they must choose the ticket type consistent with the CPD attendee’s membership status. Similarly if student/new graduate members are purchasing tickets on behalf of full-members or non-members, they must choose the ticket type consistent with the CPD attendee’s membership status.All CPD events must be paid for, in full, in advance of the event.This requirement overrides the 14 day payment option if the event date falls within the 14 days.
Please note that you will not receive any course materials, including but not limited to: workbooks, slide sets, prior reading or webinar/ recording links, until full payment has been made.
Online CPD
By proceeding with your registration for a webinar you agree to the following Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) terms and conditions:
- OTA offer live webinars and in some cases recordings will be made of the live event.
- Registrants may elect to register for either the live event or the recorded event (if available).
- Links to recordings and copies of slides (if applicable) will be sent to all registrants of both the live event and the recorded event.
- Recordings of webinars will be made available after the original airing date or as described in the event description on the website.
- If the recorded version is purchased through the CPD library access is made available as per the details on the registration page.
- Registrants who do not view the recording within the time frame may apply for an extension of an additional 2 weeks. This extension will incur a $30 administration fee.
Webinar Code of Conduct
- Recording, filming or photography is NOT permitted by registrants. Registrants are not permitted to record any part of this event in any format including audio recording, video recording, or through the use of mobile devices for filming or photography.
- All attendees must be registered to participate in the webinar.
- Recordings and slides and other webinar materials are not to be shared or reproduced.
- Except with the Association's prior written approval you must not, in whole or part, reproduce, modify, adapt, distribute, publish or electronically communicate (including by online means) this presentation or any of these materials.
- Cancellation Policy: (see OTA Refund and Cancellation Policy)
- There is no refund for non-attendance at live webinar events (with or without recording).

Payment Terms and Conditions
All offline payments (including direct bank transfer) must be made by the due date provided on the invoice issued. The due date will be calculated as fourteen (14) days from the order date. Any order that has not been paid by the due date as indicated on the invoice will be cancelled. Order cancellation will result in (but is not limited to) the allocation of any CPD or merchandise being released, and a change to membership status which will result in limited or no access to member benefits.
All of our prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST (Goods and services tax).
All transactions are processed in Australian dollars (AUD).
Instalment (Scheduled) Payments
- When you purchase a Membership Subscription and you choose to pay by direct debit from a nominated bank account or credit card, we will advise you of our direct debit plan. This plan will include the periodic amount of the debit, commencement date for payments and payment frequency, with this information to be contained on your tax invoice.
- We will provide notification regarding the renewal of your membership subscription at least fourteen (14) days prior to the expiry date of your existing membership subscription.
- Renewal of your membership subscription will be automatic, unless we receive your confirmation advising that you wish to cancel your auto-renewal plan.
- If you switch your membership type before your membership expiry date, the direct debit plan may change and there may also be an immediate debit that relates to the period covered by the most recent instalment (this will be detailed in an amended tax invoice that is issued to you).
- If the direct debit date falls on a non-business day, we will debit your nominated bank account or credit card on the next available business day.
- Your nominated bank account or credit card details are encrypted and may be tokenised using techniques that are designed to prevent unauthorised access.
Insufficient funds
- If there are insufficient funds in your nominated bank account or credit card to cover the direct debit amount when it is due, we may notify you by email, SMS or phone as a courtesy.
- We may resubmit the debit within fourteen (14) calendar days unless you advise us to debit an alternative bank account or credit card within fourteen (14) calendar days.
- You agree to notify us promptly in writing if the nominated card specified for any Membership Subscription payment is cancelled, suspended, due to expire or otherwise ceases to be a means by which we may collect payments while payments remain owing.
- If you fail to meet your obligations to make payments as outlined in your payment schedule, you must immediately nominate another card or pay the outstanding balance and all other amounts payable under the Membership Subscription.
- If full payment is not received within seven (7) days of notification of a failed scheduled payment, we may suspend or cancel your membership subscription until all payments in arrears have been received.
Your rights
- Should you believe that a direct debit has been made incorrectly from your bank account or credit card and not in accordance with our direct debit plan, please contact us on 1300 682 878.
- In some circumstances, Occupational Therapy Australia may rearrange direct debit dates on your behalf and/or stop payment(s) under your direct debit payment plan.
- Should you wish to change your payment method, credit card or nominated bank account details, you can do so by contacting us on 1300 682 878.
- You may also lodge a direct debit claim with your financial institution.
Your responsibilities
- You must ensure that sufficient funds are available in your nominated bank account or credit card to meet each scheduled debit.
- You must ensure that the authorisation given to us to debit your nominated bank account or credit card is identical to the account signing instruction held by the financial institution where that account is held.
- You must notify us immediately if your nominated bank account or credit card is transferred or closed, if payments are stopped or if your direct debit payment plan is cancelled, and supply us with alternative account details no less than seven (7) business days prior to the date of your next debit.
- Please note that as an alternative, payments can only be accepted via either direct debit or credit card.

Refund or Cancellation Policy
Membership Subscriptions
- No refunds are offered for cancellation of membership during the membership cycle.
- Membership are non-transferable.
- Where membership with OTA is cancelled due to de-registration with AHPRA, no refund or partial refund of membership fees will be given
- Where membership with OTA is suspended due to registration suspension with AHPRA, no refunds or partial refunds will be given for the suspension period
- If a member paying by instalment payments cancels their membership, they are still liable for the remaining membership payments for that 12-month membership cycle.
Association Continued Professional Development (CPD) Events
Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) reserves the right to cancel or postpone any Association event. If this occurs, registration fees paid will be refunded in full, but the Association bears no responsibility for any other costs incurred (such as flights, accommodation, travel expenses or loss of income). It is recommended that registrants ensure the appropriate contingencies and insurance is in place to mitigate against loss in these circumstances.
Where courses are run over 2 days, unless noted on the registration page, or discussed with OTA at the earliest convenience, full attendance at both days is required. OTA reserves the right to refuse access to all or any part of the course should you not be able to attend all allocated training times.
In the instance of webinars, registrants are responsible for ensuring their equipment is able to run the program prior to the start of the session. Refunds will not be provided for technical difficulties experienced during the session.
Should you be unable to attend an Association event for which you have registered and paid, a substitute delegate is welcome to attend in your place, so long as the Association has been notified in writing and in advance of the event. If the substitute attendee is not a member, the non-member fee will apply and extra payment will be due and payable before the event date. All registrants for any OTA event must have paid their event registration fees in full prior to attending an event or risk non-admission.
If you cancel your registration for an event, a refund equivalent to 90% of the registration fee paid will be given, provided a written cancellation is received by the Association no later than 7 days prior to the event. Cancellation after this time will be ineligible for a refund. In unavoidable circumstances, where there has been an accident, injury or death, please contact OTA directly.
Refunds will not be provided to registrants who do not cancel or do not attend an event. Registrants who do not attend their enrolled event will be ineligible to receive event information, including but not limited to notes, workbooks and slides. This includes due to transport delays (flights, road and rail).
Please note that OTA frequently run waiting lists for their courses. If you have been delayed through transport issues please contact the OTA rep on the course correspondence you have received ASAP. A substitute may be able to be arranged and a part refund provided.
Association Conferences
Registration cancellations received in writing to Occupational Therapy Australia 30 days prior to the Conference will receive a refund less a handling fee of $110 including GST. No refund will be given after this date; however, an alternative delegate name may be submitted. All cancellations and substitutions must be made by email.
Additional Terms and Conditions may be applicable to each individual conference and are accessible via the conference website.
Merchandise and Online Store Products
Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) endeavours to provide quality mechanise and products. If you do encounter an issue with a product that you have purchased please contact us. Whilst we do not offer refunds for change of mind, we will be happy to replace or provide a refund for items that deemed to be faulty.
