RECORDED WEBINAR SUMMARY
Intermediate Course on Common Hand Conditions
Presented by Jennifer Mathais and Dane Johnson, this course involves a more detailed approach to assessing patients with hand conditions and give you the skills to thoroughly assess the patient, design a treatment plan and know when to seek a Surgical opinion.
This course is for the therapist who has had some experience with basic hand conditions and wants to increase the depth of their knowledge to be able to accurately diagnose and treat these patients independently.
Please note; it would be beneficial if therapists complete the introduction to hand therapy, but not essential.
At the completion of this course, therapists will;
Demonstrate a detailed understanding of upper limb anatomy
Complete an initial assessment with a patient whilst appreciating further diagnostic assessments
Apply clinical reasoning to plan a treatment approach
Jennifer has specialised in Hand and Upper Limb rehabilitation for over 25 years. She has cemented her knowledge by completing post graduate studies, participating in research projects, and being the co-author of medical journals. She has run Melbourne Hand Therapy for the last 25 years. She now enjoys lecturing and doing presentations to Surgeons, GP’s and graduating therapists.
Dane found a passion for hand and upper limb rehabilitation as a junior physiotherapist in Canberra in 2013. Since then he has cemented his knowledge by completing an array of professional development courses in addition to his experience working internationally. Dane has worked in the United Kingdom at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, this role aided in his development in which he worked alongside skilled therapists and surgeons.
