This is a group to:  

  • provide opportunities for occupational therapists working with older people across all settings to connect, learn and share resources, as well as support each other
  • advocate for the occupational therapy role and better outcomes for older people
  • bring together OTs for joint learning opportunities (presentations, service information, journal club, discussions on complex issues)
  • network and meet others in the field

Fiona Thomas

Presenter

Since graduating Fiona Thomas has worked in a variety of clinical areas including hand therapy, industrial musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic pain management. She has worked in both private and public settings as a clinical OT, program coordinator, manager and educator. Fiona is a keen advocate of the role of Occupational Therapy in pain management and has a clinical interest in applying modern pain science into occupational therapy approaches including: sensory processing/ self-regulation approaches. She completed a research project into pain self-efficacy and its role in function engagement which was published in 2023. Currently Fiona is working at Bayside Health in Melbourne as the pain Clinic manager.
