Presented By

Dr Erin Leif
Associate Professor in the School of Educational Psychology and Inclusion at Monash University
Dr Erin Leif is an Associate Professor in the School of Educational Psychology and Inclusion at Monash University, where she leads research and teaching focused on learning and behaviour science, inclusive education, and positive behaviour support. Erin is deeply committed to supporting the rights, dignity, and full participation of all learners, particularly those with disabilities and complex support needs. Her work is grounded in the belief that educational environments should be designed from the outset to reduce barriers and enable every student to thrive. A passionate advocate for inclusive teaching, Erin’s research explores how teachers and practitioners can implement proactive, evidence-based frameworks - such as UDL and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) - to create more equitable and accessible learning experiences. She works collaboratively with schools, disability service providers, and government departments to translate inclusive education principles into practical strategies that educators can use to support learner variability in real-world classrooms. Her research spans several key areas, including positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, and rights-based approaches to reducing restrictive practices. Through her work, Erin seeks to build the capability of educators and allied professionals to uphold the rights of learners, foster inclusive cultures, and design learning environments where all students have opportunities to belong, participate, and succeed.
