Program Overview

Join OTA for our Member Forum on Section 33 and other NDIS legislative changes

NDIA recently announced that from the week of 19 May, participant plans will include new ‘funding periods’ which will govern the timeframes of when participants can receive plan funds.

This comes after last year’s amendments to the NDIS Act, under which the NDIA has the power to make further rules about participants’ plans and budgets, including total funding periods, funding component amounts and funding periods.

NDIA has said the changes ‘will be rolled out gradually’ and that participants will only see the change in new or reassessed plans, following a discussion with a NDIA planner to understand their circumstances. Questions remain about how this will impact on OTs and the participants that they support.

To keep you updated with the changes, OTA is hosting a Member Forum that will shed some light on how these changes may impact OTs. The one-hour session, with speaker Charmaine Fraser from DSC, will include the topics:

  • Key updates to Section 33 and other legislative changes

  • What Total Funding Amounts mean for your services

  • How to work within Funding Component Amounts

  • Impact of Funding Periods on scheduling and billing

  • Aligning your service agreements with funding periods

  • Participant options: review, variation, reassessment

  • Managing stated supports in Improved Daily Living

This session is suitable for:
Occupational therapists working under the NDIS
