As we fast approach the end of 2024, it is time to take a moment to reflect and plan what you can do to reclaim your energy and start 2025 off how you wish to go forward.

We know the challenges of burnout are ever present for many OTs with the ongoing workload demands, client complexities and staff shortages but there are strategies you can put into place to support you as you navigate a path that works for you and allows you to reclaim your energy.  Hear from occupational therapist, Nicole de la Perrelle as she shares her experience of how she has done just that.

This session will support participants to develop practical skills and strategies to manage and prevent burnout and compassion fatigue. Recognising, addressing and managing burnout are important to having balance in your life, job satisfaction and career longevity.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The key learning objectives for this this session are:

1.           Identifying strategies to achieve healthy work-life balance including prioritising self-care, setting boundaries and self-leadership

2.           Acquiring practical tools and coping strategies to manage stress and burnout including self-compassion, mindfulness, self-regulation and rest. 

3.           Understanding the importance of professional and social supports and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment. 

4.           Reconnecting with your personal meaning and purpose in your work as an OT to feel re-energised in your work.

5.           Developing and implementing your personalised compassion fatigue and burnout management and prevention plan including follow up support to integrate strategies in daily life.

Nicole de la Perrelle

Nicole de la Perrelle has worked for many years as an occupational therapist across public and private settings with clients experiencing a range of diagnoses.  She has specialist skills in pain management, driving and rehabilitation.  She runs her own business Encourage OT and also lectures at University. Nicole is passionate about supporting and encouraging occupational therapists to maximise their skills and potential.  Nicole has been challenged with burnout and compassion fatigue in her OT career and will draw on these experiences as she leads the workshop as well as how she was able to once again be a passionate and engaged OT.
