Empathy without Overwhelm

Empathy without Overwhelm

This session will provide you with the tools to harness empathy for stronger client connections without draining your energy and sacrificing your own emotional wellbeing.

Program Overview

Empathy is a powerful tool for connection, understanding, and building meaningful relationships but it can also leave us drained if not managed effectively. As occupational therapists, our work requires deep empathy but constantly tuning into the feelings of others can have an impact on our health, emotional energy and resilience.

What You Will Learn:

In this interactive session, you will learn:

  • The science and psychology of empathy, and how emotional mastery supports sustainable care.

  • How empathy contributes to client satisfaction and professional fulfillment, and when it can lead to burnout.

  • Practical strategies to practice empathy and enhance your client interactions while maintaining emotional boundaries and energy.

  • Techniques to set healthy boundaries without compromising your compassion.

By attending this session you will:

  • Gain practical strategies to be empathetic without feeling overwhelmed.

  • Enhance your emotional intelligence skills relevant to your clinical practice

  • Build resilience and confidence while maintaining strong therapeutic relationships.
