Program Overview

WORKSHOP SUMMARY

This two day workshop provides foundation skills in the area of environmental modifications. It presents the participant with practical tasks for completion and  provides them with skills in measurement, design and  a client centred approach to home modifications.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Occupational Therapists who are new to the area of environmental modifications, or those that wish to refresh their skills.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Sessions include:

  1. The theory to practice.
  1. Factors affecting design- legislative and person centred requirements that guide design.
  1. Clinical reasoning - the basis for prescription and design.
  1. Drawing to scale- the art of representing the environment.
  1. Documentation- conveying your design.
  1. Bathroom design requirements.
  1. Access design requirements.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

  • Martin’s Travel Group Albury operates Route 908, which runs from Albury CBD to Thurgoona via North Albury, Lavington, and Charles Sturt University. 

PARKING:

For parking at Charles Sturt University’s Albury campus near Building 751, you can use the designated parking areas on campus. The Albury-Wodonga campus has several parking lots available for students, staff, and visitors.

To find the most convenient parking spot:

  1. Check the campus map: This will show you the locations of all parking areas relative to Building 751. You can download or view the campus map 
  2. Parking permits: Ensure you have the appropriate parking permit if required. Information on obtaining permits can be found on the university’s website.

INCLUSIONS:

WORKSHOP MATERIALS

To bring along: All participants must bring scaled ruler, pencils, rubbers and retractable tape measure. 

If required, workshop materials are provided to you electronically via our online learning platform. Approximately one week prior to the commencement of the workshop we will load the course materials into the system.

To access your online learning account:

  1. Go to the OTA Website home page.
  2. Click on the Member Login button - even if you are not a Member, all registrants can use this button to login to the online learning account. 
  3. Username: the email address you registered for the course. 
  4. Password:To set up a password if not done or if forgotten click on the password re-set button and an email will be sent to you to create your password. You then can enter your password and login.
  5. Navigate to My Dashboard/My Courses and locate the course.
  6. Click on the login link to access the course materials.

If you can not login to your account or do not receive any correspondance within at least a week of the course start date please contact us at cpdevents@otaus.com.au.

Sandi Lightfoot-Collins

Sandi Lightfoot - Collins is a practising OT with diverse clinical skills spanning in excess of 34 years across diverse fields. The last 25 years have focussed on environmental modifications and the impact on users. She has presented nationally on home modifications, across various funding bodies and complexity. Presentations on environmental modifications has occurred within both locally and internationally. These skills have seen her work with local councils on access and modifications, as well as working as a planner for redevelopments of new build/retro fit of a hospital. She teaches into the undergraduate and masters course within the OT faculty at Sydney University and maintains a private consultancy.
