The OT in Schools – Working Effectively with Teachers workshop builds practical skills in communication, collaboration, and coaching to equip occupational therapists to work confidently and intentionally with educators to strengthen partnerships and improve student outcomes.
Program Overview
Featuring special guest Dr Jill Jeremy, educator and academic. Dr Jill Jeremy has nearly 30 years’ international experience in health and education, including roles in government, academia, and industry. Jill is a passionate advocate for inclusion and the role of trans-disciplinary practice in education as a means of supporting all students to achieve great outcomes. Jill’s experience of working with allied health professionals in schools led to her doctoral thesis, which investigated interprofessional collaboration between teachers and occupational therapists.
The OT in Schools – Working Effectively with Teachers is a practical, skills-focused workshop on building productive, respectful relationships with teachers and school staff. The session includes an introduction to Dr. Jill Jeremy’s model of consultation, collaboration, and coaching, supporting participants to understand the different modes of working alongside educators—and when to use each approach intentionally.
Participants will develop effective communication strategies, explore collaborative coaching methods, and learn practical ways to integrate occupational therapy perspectives into everyday teaching practices.
This session is designed to strengthen confidence, enhance interdisciplinary partnerships, and improve outcomes for students through shared understanding and streamlined teamwork.

This session is part of a 3-part interactive workshop series designed for occupational therapists working in, or transitioning into, Australian school settings. Suitable for all levels of experience, this focused learning series delivers concise, high-impact content alongside real-world examples, structured discussion and opportunities for Q&A. Each session includes a brief deep dive into the topic, supporting participants to strengthen their practice and clinical reasoning within the school environment.
Participants may register for individual sessions or purchase the full series of three. This format allows flexibility while ensuring meaningful, practical learning that can be applied immediately in school contexts. Megan West
Megan West is an occupational therapist who has worked in paediatrics for 10 years. Megan has worked within the QLD, VIC and NSW school systems. In her work within the education sector, Megan has had a variety of roles including working individually with students, running group programs, providing teacher coaching and running presentations and workshops for teachers and leadership staff. Megan is passionate about developing the role of OT’s in the education system, and has presented at the National Education Summit in Melbourne. Megan is currently employed in a private practice in Queensland.

Megan King
Megan King is an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) with over 20 years’ experience in public health, clinical mental health services across Victoria. Megan transitioned into the Education setting and has worked as an Occupational Therapist in schools for 8 years, including within the Mental Health Practitioner initiative established by the Department of Education Victoria and in a discipline specific role as an OT. She also works as a Clinical Practitioner Lecturer at La Trobe University.
