Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform (PRPP) – Intervention Course

Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform (PRPP) – Intervention Course

The Perceive, Recall, Plan and Perform System of Task Analysis (PRPP System) comprises an Assessment (PRPP Assessment) and an Intervention (PRPP Intervention) component. PRPP Assessment course is a pre-requisite for PRPP Intervention.

Program Overview

The Perceive‑Recall‑Plan‑Perform (PRPP) System of Task Analysis offers a powerful, structured framework for therapists to understand how clients think during task performance—not just what they do.

While the PRPP Assessment helps you identify which cognitive strategy application behaviours are limiting mastery, PRPP Intervention (PRPP‑I) gives you a method to translate those assessment insights into targeted, occupation‑embedded therapy. The approach uses cues, prompts and scaffolded support aligned to the four information processing quadrants (Perceive, Recall, Plan, Perform) to help clients progressively internalise more effective thinking strategies.

This intensive 4-day workshop is intended for occupational therapists who have already completed PRPP Assessment. Over the course of the training, participants will deepen their theoretical understanding, practice translating assessment findings into intervention plans, and engage in rich case‑based learning to build confidence applying PRPP‑I in their own clinical settings.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Compare and contrast PRPP Intervention with other OT task training or cognitive strategy methods
  2. Select the critical strategy application behaviours to target in therapy, based on assessment data
  3. Set measurable goals for both task mastery and cognitive strategy use
  4. Design a detailed intervention plan that scaffolds the growth of strategy application behaviours
  5. Apply PRPP‑I in real-world practice contexts—tailoring cues, prompts, scaffolding, fading and transfer

The training makes extensive use of video‑case problem solving, group discussion, and hands‑on exercises to bridge theory and practice

Why Attend PRPP-I?

  • PRPP‑I supports the translation of assessment into intervention, giving you a structured, evidence‑based way to support cognitive mastery through strategy coaching.
  • The PRPP System (assessment and intervention) is designed to be diagnosis‑agnostic and applicable from infancy to older age, and has been used in neurological impairment, behavioural challenges and developmental conditions.
  • PRPP- I is evidence‑informed and adaptive with interventions leading to meaningful change in everyday task performance
  • Benefit from case-based learning with the opportunity to practice mapping through real case examples and structured prompts

This session is suitable for

OTs at all stages of their career.  This course is not suitable for OT students.

Note: You must have completed PRPP- A to undertake this PRPP- I course.
