WorkPlacePLUS Webinar:Contractor or Employee?
Do you engage contractors in your OT practice? New Closing Loopholes laws mean it’s time to review your working arrangements. This essential webinar unpacks the legal differences between employees and contractors — and what you need to do now to stay compliant and avoid costly mistakes.
Program Overview
With recent changes to workplace laws under the Closing Loopholes legislation, it’s more important than ever for occupational therapy practice owners to understand how they engage their workforce. Misclassifying workers can lead to serious legal and financial consequences — so now is the time to review your arrangements.
Closing Loopholes laws have introduced statutory guidance for defining the employer–worker–contractor relationship. It’s important for occupational therapy practice owners to review their employer–worker–contractor relationships to ensure they are paying workers their lawful entitlements.
This webinar explores:
• Working arrangements and types of engagement
• The difference between an employee and an independent contractor
• The importance of clarifying, defining and formalising worker roles
• The serious implications of underpayment and sham contracting
There will be an opportunity for Q&A after the main presentation.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This webinar will be relevant to OT private practices with contractors or employees or solo practitioners considering expanding their team.
