Preparing for the Federal Election

With the next federal election anticipated in 2025, OTA is working to put occupational therapy front and centre on the national agenda. Here's what we're doing to ensure your voice is heard—and how you can get involved.

Federal Election Forum Recap
On 30 October 2024, OTA hosted a Federal Election Forum, bringing members together to explore our advocacy strategy and discuss OTA’s Federal Election Statement (Statement), which outlines the key issues facing the profession.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your insights are directly shaping our strategy and the Statement, helping us prioritise the issues that matter most to you and refine our asks to government.

For those unable to attend, a detailed summary of the session’s feedback is now available.

Next Steps in Our Advocacy Strategy
Finalising the Federal Election Statement
We’re in the process of incorporating member feedback and insights from stakeholder discussions into our election statement. This includes input from key meetings with government and collaboration with other peak bodies.

The finalised election statement will be shared with you in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on OT Today for updates as we finalise our agenda for change.

Supporting Members to Advocate for the Profession
As we approach the anticipated election period in May 2025, we’ll equip members with the tools and resources needed to amplify our advocacy efforts, including comprehensive resources to support effective advocacy in your community.

Lend your voice
OTA is committed to driving impactful change for the profession. Together, we can make occupational therapy a priority on the national stage. Stay connected and be ready to lend your voice as we move closer to the election.
