ACU North Sydney Campus PhD Scholarship Opportunity

The Australian Catholic University (ACU) is partnering with TAD to undertake research in the field of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy for children with disabilities.

Applications are currently open for a full-time 3-year PhD with publication scholarship for a candidate to undertake research evaluating the Freedom Wheels Service.

About TAD

TAD is a non-profit, assistive technology provider. TAD has a dedicated group of staff and volunteers who design and build customised assistive technology and equipment solutions for those living with a disability. One of their services is Freedom Wheels which customises bicycles to enable children and adults with disabilities to ride.

Scholarship details

Location and supervision:

This scholarship is open to domestic applicants willing to commence during Research Term C 2020 (29 June until 31 August).

The successful scholarship recipient will be based full-time at the School of Allied Health at ACU, North Sydney Campus.

The successful recipient will be supervised by ACU’s Associate Professor Elspeth Froude as Principal Supervisor, Professor Chris Lonsdale and Dr Margaret Wallen as Co-Supervisors and Dr Anthony Lowe from TAD and Prof Christine Imms as Associate Supervisors.

The successful scholarship recipient will undertake their PhD with publication.

Scholarship value and duration:

  • A Research Training Program Fees Offset Scholarship, that is a tuition fee waiver for 3 years; and
  • A Stipend Scholarship of $33,092 per annum for 3 years (indexed annually)

Eligibility criteria

  • Refer to the Higher Degree Research Regulations for PhD eligibility criteria;
  • Candidates must also have an Honours or Masters-by-Research qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or related discipline

How to apply: Step 1 Expression of Interest (EoI)

Applicants must submit an EoI including:

  • a cover letter of max 2 pages in length detailing relevant research experience and interest in the topic. Applicants should also outline strategies for a timely completion
  • a copy of their CV that includes evidence of research experience.

Closing date for Expressions of Interest: 9am on Monday 13 April 2020

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview during the week ending 17th April 2020.

Following interviews, preferred candidates will be invited to submit a complete formal application for the PhD program and the stipend scholarship as outlined in step 2.
