SCU Allied Health Student Conference

Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) were pleased to be involved with Southern Cross University’s annual Allied Health Conference. This year’s conference was a little different as it was held as an entirely online experience and students from across the globe were invited to attend.

The student-run conference showcased health promotion and primary healthcare projects by final year Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Podiatry students. The students of the conference organising committee worked extremely hard to pull the conference together, and to innovate ways for their peers to share their work and collaborate with alumni and community partners online. The conference consisted of a series of pre-recorded presentations, including a keynote address presented by OTA member, and paediatric OT telehealth business owner, Leanne Hopkins. There were also opportunities for students to connect through a live careers workshop and a live Alumni Q&A session.

OTA were delighted to have the opportunity to provide students with a presentation that discussed ways OTA can support students and new graduates, as well as sharing insights and new graduate experiences with other community partners and alumni.

The conference was a great success and OTA commend Southern Cross University Allied Health students on their hard work, particularly as we all navigate a new and unsettled environment.
