OT in the news

Last week the Federal Ministers for Education, and Skills and Training, released a joint media release announcing 2025/26 budget funding for paid student placements for eligible teachers, nurses and social workers.

While this funding is a significant step forward for eligible teachers, nurses, and social workers, OTA was deeply disappointed to see that occupational therapy and other registered allied health professions have been excluded from this initiative.

Carol McKinstry, Deputy Dean of LaTrobe University's Rural Health School spoke with Radio2SM to voice her disappointment at the narrow inclusion of the Government's paid student placement scheme.

OTs also got mentioned in this Courier Mail article, with calls to be included in the paid student placement scheme.
