National Construction Code
As members would know, on 30 April this year we won the campaign to include mandatory minimum accessibility standards in the National Construction Code.
This was a huge win for people with disability, older Australians and indeed all Australians.
But despite our win, some states are now refusing to commit to incorporating the code in their jurisdiction.
This means that people with mobility limitation in those states will be left behind and face continued exclusion every day.
We need ALL states and territories to commit to the new standards and ensure people with disability, seniors and all Australians with mobility limitation have the same rights, regardless of where they live.
To find out if your state or territory has committed to implementing the new National Construction Code – and what to do next – visit the Buildling Better Homes website.
