New OTA Initiative - Early Career Community of Practice

OTA is excited to be launching an Early Career Community of Practice, a new initiative to support OTA members in the early years of their careers. This community will help early-career OTs to connect with professional peers in a friendly, supportive space.

What is it?
The Early Career Community of Practice is a new initiative to support OTA members in the first 0-5 years of their careers.

Why join?
The EC CoP will help you to:

• Connect with your professional peers in a friendly, supportive space
• Discuss your experiences, challenges, and wins as early-career OTs
• Share tools, tips and resources to help you in your day-to-day work

Who ­­can join?
The community is available exclusively to OTA members with 0-5 years of experience as an OT, as a FREE benefit of your OTA membership.  It’s designed and led by early-career OTs, so the content is relevant to your working life now, as well as where you might like to go next.

When is the first session?
The community’s first live session will be held online on Wednesday 1 May at 6pm -7pm (AEST). If you’re an early-career OTA member with 0-5 years of experience as an OT, we warmly invite you to join this launch event.

What if I can’t attend the first meeting?
If you can’t attend the first meeting in May, you should still join the community. We’ll keep you informed about future, free events, and give you access to the online chat forum and shared resources for the group.

What if I’m not an OTA member?
If you’re not an OTA member it’s easy to join online on the OTA website. We offer free membership for students and discounted membership for new graduates and part-time OTs.

How do I join?
To join the community simply sign-up with your OTA-registered email address. We’ll send you an invitation to join the first session and keep you informed about future meetings and activities. See you there!
