COURSE INFORMATION | IMPLEMENTING THE NATIONAL GUIDELINE FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS

This short course is relevant for any occupational therapist, psychologist, speech pathologist, general practitioner, paediatrician, psychiatrist, nurse practitioner or social worker supporting individuals and families with an autism assessment and diagnosis.

The course explores the recommendations included within the National Guideline for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders. It delivers a consistent overview of the entire clinical pathway and provides deeper dives that highlight the role of key clinical professionals, from initiating a referral to sharing findings.

Content is presented within innovative eLearning software, which allows for self-directed and flexible learning options.

This course is ideal for all clinicians interested in implementing a best practice, evidence-based approach within their clinical setting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The learning framework and module objectives guide the participant through the Guideline Recommendations. Vital content is linked to examples of the Guideline in Practice which bring the Guideline to life. Also included are essential downloadable resources, such as templates, case study examples, and Quick Reference Guides, to support future Guideline implementation. Additionally, participants can build skills by completing self-evaluation and reflection questions throughout the modules.

Upon successful completion of the modules, participants will:

  • gain an insight into the different clinical professions involved in the assessment and diagnosis pathway
  • understand the flexibility of the diagnostic pathway through hypothetical case studies
  • be able to reflect on the alignment of your clinical practice with the Guideline Recommendations

ACCESS:

The course includes short clinician-led videos, with examples of the Guideline in Practice. Course resources will be provided to you via your login account. Go to your Dashboard/My Courses and login to locate the course resources. You have 12 weeks to complete the course.
