Koori Occupational Therapy Scheme Scholarship 2020

The Koori Occupational Therapy Scheme is delighted to again present its annual scholarship to support First Australian students studying Occupational Therapy in Victoria. This scholarship reflects the vision of the Koori Occupational Therapy Scheme – to actively encourage and advocate for increased First Australian representation in the Occupational Therapy profession.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Applicants must be enrolled in and studying Occupational Therapy at one of the following universities with an intake of Victorian students – La Trobe, Deakin, Monash, Charles Sturt, Australian Catholic, Swinburne or Federation University

How to apply

  • Complete an application letter outlining why you are studying Occupational Therapy and how you could use the money to support your study (eg. money towards books, managing rural placements, cost of living expenses)
  • Applications will close 31st August 2020
  • Previous recipients can apply and candidates can re-apply in subsequent years

Requirements

  • Scholarship recipients will send a letter at the end of the year in which the scholarship is awarded informing the KOTS Committee of how the money supported their study, to help the Committee plan for future scholarship allocations

Value

  • $1000 will be offered to each successful candidate and will be distributed through the year
  • On graduation, each successful candidate will receive $500 to contribute to initial costs of getting established as an OT, such as registration, insurance, professional association membership, working with children/police checks
  • Membership to the Koori Occupational Therapy Scheme and mentoring/support from OTs will be offered
