NDIS Minister Bill Shorten announces retirement from federal politics 

Minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten resigned from federal politics on Thursday 5 September. He will remain the MP for the seat of Maribyrnong and the Minister for NDIS until February next year, when he will take up a role as vice-chancellor of University of Canberra. We anticipate further announcements as we head into the federal election.  

NDIS legislation hotline 

Following the passage of the NDIS Bill, NDIA have launched a hotline for participants and providers to answer specific question on the legislation. 

The hotline can be contacted from 8am to 8pm AEST via 1800 800 110 or via enquiries@ndis.gov.au

NDIS Review Government Response 

Government has signalled its intention to release a joint federal and state government response to the NDIS Independent Review in early December. 

Foundational Supports 

On 2 September Government announced that it will soon open consultation on general Foundational Supports via the DSS engagement platform with responses due 30 November. They are seeking feedback on a discussion paper that is yet to be released. OTA will work with our relevant NRGs and other allied health stakeholders to develop a fulsome submission once we have had an opportunity to review the paper. Find out more here.
