WA Hot Topic Wrap Up: The Role of OT in Falls Prevention

Western Australian members recently attended the final Hot Topic event for this year. This face-to-face session gave members the opportunity to connect with their peers via a networking lunch prior to the session.

Presented in partnership with Injury Matters, the Hot Topic focussed on the role of occupational therapy in falls prevention, identification of risk factors, and the impact of falls in Western Australia. Information and resources for the Staying on your Feet program were included. 

The professional development was delivered via presentation from Claire Cunningham. The core principles of home modification solutions focussed on ramps, rails, bathrooms and toilets for hazard reduction were presented, followed by discussion and shared experiences.

Feedback from members who attended was very positive. The group was thankful to be able to meet in person and learn within a constructive peer support environment. Many of the participants expressed excitement for future Hot Topic sessions in 2021—watch this space!
