LGBTQ+ Inclusive Practice for Aged Care Services Course

SESSION OVERVIEW

OTA are pleased to partner with ACON, Australia’s largest health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders (LGBTQ+ people) to bring you this course.

Enrol in this course to expand accessibility to your aging clients by providing a safe, LGBTQ+ inclusive space that delivers exceptional person-centred care.

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety has recommended that provider specialisation claims (including LGBTI Specialisation) are reviewed to improve the reliability of the My Aged Care service listing. LGBTQ+ inclusion training is a key element of verifying these claims.

  • What do LGBTQ+ and different terms for gender and sexuality mean?
  • What should I know about gender diversity?
  • Why is inclusion important?
  • What are the relevant care standards for LGBTQ+ older adults?
  • How can I be an ally to my clients/patients?

The eLearning course has 4 interactive modules:

  1. Introducing LGBTQ+ older adults
  2. Understanding the health and wellbeing needs of LGBTQ+ older adults
  3. Maintaining standards of care for LGBTQ+ older adults
  4. Applying LGBTQ+ inclusive practices into Aged Care
