- Be aware of some key, initial steps in establishing a private practice
All clinicians considering moving into private practice whether you are a new graduate or an experienced clinician.
Sue is a registered Occupational Therapist and Clinical Neuropsychologist. Her main interest is the long term rehabilitation and support of people with severe cognitive and behavioural issues following acquired brain injury (ABI). In 1995, Sue established Osborn Sloan and Associates (OSA), a private practice providing community based therapy services to people with ABI. Over a 20 year period the OSA expanded to provide a multidisciplinary state-wide service. In 2013, with a view to succession planning, Sue established Victoria Community Living. VCL is now a separate company and employs occupational therapists, case managers and a team of allied health therapy assistants, who provide long-term goal-oriented support to people with ABI living in the community. Sue also collaborates with the Summer Foundation on the issue of young people with brain injury living in residential aged care and with Monash University to conduct research in the field. Sue lectures in undergraduate programs and has published in peer reviewed journals and co-authored four books on aspects of community-based brain injury rehabilitation.
