RECORDED WEBINAR SUMMARY
MEMBER SESSION: NDIS Changes Update
SESSION OVERVIEW
Following the recent passage of new NDIS legislation, OTA is pleased to host this webinar delivered by DSC.
This event is essential for all OTs delivering services under the NDIS, as it will cover key changes that directly impact your practice.
What You’ll Learn:
Stay informed about the latest developments in NDIS access, planning, the new NDIS Supports list, compliance requirements, and discover new opportunities for OTs.
Key Topics Include:
-
Access changes: what are the new impairment notices and why do they matter?
-
Planning and spending: the new “in” and “out lists”. Does the NDIA still fund OT and other therapies? What about damage to a property?
-
Replacement powers: Will OTs be called upon to give evidence about a support from the “out list”?
-
Compliance: The role of OT’s when someone has a debt raised against them or their plan management changed
-
Suspensions: When can(‘t) the Agency ask someone to undergo assessment or collect information?
-
No more “top ups”: The role of OTs in changes of circumstances and escalations
-
Revocation: Providing information or assessment when the Agency thinks someone is no longer eligible for the NDIS
-
The future: what role could OT’s play in the future of the Scheme

PRESENTER
Chris Coombes
Chris’ mum is an Occupational Therapist, which partly explains why Chris was drawn to the care sector 14 years ago. Early on, Chris was working alongside a person who was unnecessarily detained in a prison. The injustice ignited a fire in their belly for a fairer system and drove them to study social policy. A Masters from the London School of Economics provided a global lens to dissect disability policy in Australia.
Chris has since supported the roll-out of the Justice Liaison programme with the NDIA and worked as a non-legal Appeals Advocate. A side gig as an Independent Expert Reviewer gave Chris hope about a fairer system for NDIS reviews. Writing articles and training brilliant workers with DSC fills Chris' cup.
Chris’ enthusiasm and eagerness to learn from all makes them a valued team member. Chris’s other talents include hide-and-seek and making people feel good about themselves.
