Announcement of 2023 OT School of Victoria Recipient

The Occupational Therapy Australia School of Victoria Clinical Award was introduced at the 28th National Conference in July 2019.

The Occupational Therapy Trust Fund was established in 1974 and its trustees handed over mandate of the fund to Occupational Therapy Australia to provide opportunities for growth and development within the profession.

The OT School of Victoria Grant is a national award from this Trust, which aims to promote advancement in clinical practice by supporting members of OTA to engage in clinical based projects or studies.

We are delighted to announce there was an incredibly strong pool of applicants for 2023, giving the panel the difficult task of selecting a recipient.

Congratulations to 2023 award recipient, Dr Tamara Tse, who will fund her project ‘Measuring occupational therapy practice in acute and sub-acute inpatient healthcare settings’.

Dr Tse has a wealth of experience as an occupational therapist, having worked across various healthcare settings, including acute care, sub-acute care, community rehabilitation, community health, management, academia and research. Currently, she holds the position of Discipline Lead of Occupational Therapy at La Trobe University.

With a strong focus on occupational participation, Dr Tse is deeply dedicated to understanding the intricacies of what people do and why they do it. Her research endeavours revolve around understanding, measuring, and enhancing individuals' engagement in meaningful activities. Through her valuable industry partnerships, Dr Tse actively collaborates on projects aimed at identifying, implementing and evaluating occupational therapy outcome measures.

Recognising the importance of building clinical research capacity within the field, Dr Tse has taken on the role of mentor and supervisor for more than 20 undergraduate and graduate occupational therapists.
