Policy and Advocacy Workforce Update 8 December
Western Australian Election
Western Australians will be heading to the ballot boxes on 8 March 2025. Ahead of the election, OTA wrote to political leaders to highlight critical challenges impacting the occupational therapy workforce and service delivery in the state. Our correspondence emphasised the urgent need for investment in early childhood supports in the wake of the NDIS review, equitable fees under the Workers Compensation Scheme, financial assistance for students and graduates, competitive remuneration to retain experienced occupational therapists, and funding for professional development. OTA called on all parties to address these priorities in their election platforms, stressing the importance of ensuring accessible, high-quality occupational therapy services across WA. We remain committed to working collaboratively with the government to achieve these outcomes.
OTA will continue to keep members updated.
