Webinar 1: Dementia, Changed Behaviours & Assessment

- Introduction to Dementia: Brief overview of dementia, including its prevalence and the various types of behavioural and psychological symptoms it can cause.
- Role of Occupational Therapists: Explore the unique role of occupational therapists in managing behaviours associated with dementia and prioritising non-pharmacological approaches. The connection between occupational performance and behavioural changes will also be discussed.

Adrian Vernon
This webinar series is part of a collaboration with Dementia Support Australia who employ many OTs passionate about addressing the impact of behaviours associated with dementia and providing practical psychosocial support to health professionals, care workers and family carers.
The presenter for this 2-part series will be Adrian Vernon.
Adrian is a Quality Practice & Professional Development Lead with Dementia Support Australia (DSA) and has been in this role for the past year. Before this, Adrian was a Dementia Consultant, working with health professionals, care workers and family carers, in the community and residential aged care, to understand and address the impact of behaviours in dementia, by providing practical psycho-social support. Adrian has a background in Occupational Therapy and worked as an OT in New Jersey, USA, for several years within sub-acute rehabilitation.
