Policy and Advocacy Compensation Schemes Update 28 January 2025

TAC credentialing of Occupational Therapists

OTA continues to engage with Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission (TAC) regarding how occupational therapists are credentialed under the scheme.

Members may recall that OTA provided a submission to inform TAC’s review of the OT accreditation process, previously conducted in partnership with the State-Wide Equipment Program (SWEP). This submission was shaped by feedback from 89 OTA members.

Since the conclusion of their partnership with SWEP, TAC is now determining the future framework for credentialing occupational therapists. As part of this process, Michelle Oliver, OTA’s Chief Occupational Therapist, recently participated in a workshop, alongside OTs providing services under TAC. OTA provided feedback on equitable access to the Above Rate Service Agreement (ARSA), the need for a fee review, and challenges experienced under the previous system as reported by OTA members.

Join OTA’s TAC Advisory Group

OTA has been invited to join TAC’s Expert Advisory Group, established to inform the design of the TAC’s new occupational therapy service delivery model. To ensure OTA’s feedback reflects members’ experiences, we are forming a short-term advisory group to gather input from OTA members providing services under TAC.

The group will meet between February and May, with the purpose of informing OTA’s contributions to TAC’s consultation process. If you are a TAC provider and interested in participating in OTA’s short term advisory group, please email policy@otaus.com.au using the subject line ‘TAC Short Term Advisory Group’.
